Inscription: June 7, 1820 / Vauxhill Garden as it appeared on the Raising of the Balloon on Sept. 6, 1819. [?] & burnt down same evening. The Gas gone out, and the outside audience very dissapointed [''sic''] threw stones at it over the fence and cut it, so it proved a failure & ended in a Riot[?]. The board on end fence was 9 feet high whitewasher and about 3 inches deep along the top was pitched in order to keep down the boys & Cubmen who would climb up. and look over the top. Lot put on Walnut St. to Juniper & on Broad St. for[?] Walnut & George [.] Pagoda 50 feet diameter with O.G Roof painted Lt. Green & cresent [''sic''] & vain on top — pagoda stood about the centre of lot.
