William Russell Birch, Potomak Front of Mount Vernon, c. 1801-03, watercolor, graphite, paper, 7 5/16 x 9 15/16 in. (18.5 cm x 25.2 cm). Mount Vernon Ladies' Association, Mount Vernon, Va., Gift of Robert L. McNeil, Jr., 2005.

Inscription: 1831. The first and only Drawing taken of the Potomak front of Mount Vernon / from which the Plates + other designes [sic] have been taken, drawn by W.R. Birch / Enamel Painter from the Spot. Mr. Perkins has taken the back front of the House.
